Description
This test is made for the semi-quantitative detection of nicotine use, which is found in particular in cigarettes and other tobacco products.
To detect nicotine use, this test will search in urine any presence of a molecule called cotinine, which is the main derivative of the nicotine after consumption.
3 levels of detection in a single test !
This test does not only deliver a simple positive or negative result.
It shows in addition if the concentration of cotinine in urine is LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH.
In practice:
This test is particularly effective over time. Initial screening will serve as a baseline, while the tests that follow will see the lowering or raising level of THC in urine. By practicing regular screenings, it is now much easier to see if the subject has stopped its consumption (steady decrease in the level of THC) or if he can get re-smoking (sudden increase in the level of cotinine).
A new tool to assist a patient or the progress of a withdrawal.
The advantages of the cotinine PreDosage:
- Determining the level of nicotine impregnation: because this test evaluates the level of cotinine in the urine, it thus gives an important information about the actual level of a patient's impregnation. The number of cigarettes smoked daily cannot be a trusty and reliable information, as all cigarettes do not contain the same amount of nicotine, but also because all smokers do not smoke the same way. The use of test the NarcoCheck® Cotinine PreDosage test can therefore provide valuable help to determine the dosage of treatment (like gums, transdermal stamps etc.)
- Get an objective and reliable information: the use of the NarcoCheck® Cotinine PreDosage test may be very useful in order to have reliable information, since several scientific studies have shown that a very large share of smokers have great difficulty in being objective with themselves when it comes to assessing their own consumption, or even to admit it. Clearly, many smokers minimize their consumption, consciously or not. In 2011, a French study has for example shown that 21% of smokers lie to their loved ones, and 15% will even lie to their doctors (source:. Pfizer Ipsos Understanding extreme behaviors associated with smoking).
Technical data
Detection levels :
This test will be positive for nicotine on Level 1 if the sample tested contains at least 25 nanograms of cotinine per milliliter of urine, positive on Level 2 if the cotinine rate is greater than 50 nanograms per milliliter of urine, positive at Level 3 if the cotinine rate is greater than 150 nanograms per milliliter of urine, or totally negative if the sample contains less than 25 ng/ml of cotinine or not at all.
Detection time of nicotine in urine: 48 to 72 hours.
